Will Writing Coventry

Will Writing

Are you over 18? Married? Have children? Own a property?

If the answer is YES to any of the above – then it is essential that you have a legally valid Will in place.

A Will is a MUST and NOT a choice.

A Will is a legal document which allows you to pass your property, cash, investments, savings and personal possessions to those whom you wish to inherit them.

Having a legally valid Will in place makes this process both simpler and more efficient and reduces the possibility of any uncertainty and confusion around what your intended wishes were upon your death.

Dying without a Will means that your estate is considered to have died ‘Intestate’ upon your death. Your estate then becomes subject to the laws of ‘Intestacy’. Not only does this slow down the process of the administration of your estate, it also increases the costs and timescale involved in administering the estate.

The simple answer is to make sure that you have a legally valid Will in place at all times.

It is also important to review your personal and financial circumstances on a regular basis, at least every 3 years, if not more regularly.

At Crystal Clear, as part of our service to you, we will contact you every year to review your circumstances to ensure that your Will remains up to date and legally valid at all times.

Lasting Power of Attorney

Having a legally valid Will in place – will ensure that your wishes are carried out after your death.

However, what happens to those same wishes when you are still alive but unable to communicate your wishes effectively?

What happens if you become ill? Have an accident at work? Or are incapacitated through old age or mental illness?

Unfortunately, as we age many of us or our family members may suffer from some form of debilitating health issues, for example Parkinson’s disease, Alzheimer’s, Dementia, Stroke etc.

Having a Lasting Power of Attorney (LPA) will allow you to nominate one or more people to act upon your behalf should you be unable to do so.

There are 2 types of LPA:

  • Property and Financial Affairs – This LPA gives someone the ability to make decisions about the money and property you own, such as collecting a pension or selling your home.
  • Health and Welfare – This LPA allows an individual to make decisions around your medical care, treatments and daily routine.
